There comes a time in your life when you have to take the bull by the horns. I had to be brutally
honest with myself and face the reality of my situation. My weight was spinning out of control
and becoming extremely unmanageable.

Reality hit me right between the eyes. One evening, my wife and I were sitting down in our living
room, neither one of us could stand up on our own. My wife has also struggled with weight
gains over the years. We had to literally grab each other’s hand and pull against one another in
order to get enough leverage to stand up. This became an exhausting ritual.

Simple chores like putting my sock and shoes on and going grocery shopping became dreaded
tasks. Even getting the essentials at Wal-Mart was starting to take its toll. I started visiting
family and friends less and less. I felt lousy and any activity quickly tired me out.

Enough was enough; I wanted to start living again and feel better about myself. I knew what I
had to do and the commitment it was going to take to get me there. “TOPS” came to mind, I had
rejoined TOPS and was on a mission to finally conquer my food addiction.

When my wife and I found our chapter, we instantly felt welcomed and encouraged. The
support from this group of people has been genuine and sincere. I believe this chapter is the key
to my continued success. With my wife by my side I have finally faced my food demons head on.
Three and a half years later and still going strong with TOPS, we had made permanent lifestyle
changes.

From how we view food, to our mental wellness and by keeping physical activity part of our daily
routine, positive changes have come.

Thanks a million Chapter ON 5211, you’re the TOPS!!
